    Every time I am trying to save my settings for my blog, I get this error:

    Forbidden
    You don’t have permission to access /wp-admin/options.php on this server.

    Here is my link, but I don’t think that matters. https://www.jonathancrowe.com
    Can you please help?

  • Did you just upgrade or added a plugin before this permissions problem? If you have access to your phpMyAdmin, go to wp_users and check/correct role/level of access.

    Ok.

    The following link shows how to change passwords for admin.
    https://www.tamba2.org.uk/wordpress/phpmyadmin/
    But in seeing this table, check ID#1 the original admin, or if you deleted that and changed Admin username and password right after installation, check ID#2 where it says user nicename admin or whatever you designated your nicename to be as owner/admin.

    @mercime I did everything on the page (which was pretty much just change the password). I am still getting the same error.

    If anybody can help me… the problem has NOT been resolved. i tried to read around, but can’t find a solution. thanks

    Ideas:

    • Is your web host using something like mod_security?
    • Temporarily disable all plugins. Does the problem go away?
    • Reset your permalinks to default and rename your .htaccess to something else. Does the problem go away?
    • Check your permissions.

    @iridiax

    1) I had fully functional blog with the same plugins working 2 weeks ago. I moved old blog mockup folder and installed wordpress on my root and uploaded my new design so I don’t think my hosting is the problem.

    2) Disabled all plugins and tested still gets error

    3) I reset my permalinks to default and renamed my htaccess and still gets error.

    4) I changed my permissions to all sorts of “Permissions” and still gets error.

    I am truly at a lost. If anyone can help, I am open to any suggestions.

    You recently moved your WordPress and this problem then appeared? If so, then something went wrong with your move.

    Try adding a .htaccess file to your wp-admin/ directory (and leave the htaccess in the root as it is, if any).
    The htaccess for the wp-admin dir should have this:

    <IfModule mod_security.c>
    SecFilterEngine Off
    SecFilterScanPOST Off
    </IfModule>

    Give it a try…

    I had a blog… I decided to keep it on my server just for my own personal backup. I moved it to a Mockup folder to pretty much just sit there. I then installed a new version of wordpress on my root directory. i went through the install and everyhing went smoothly. i uploaded my own design and i was downloading the plugins and installing them. then i went to my Twitter Tools to setup my preferences and i click Update Preferences and thats when I first spotted it. It also happenins when i am in Settings > Reading options.
