It would be nice for there to be a setting that keeps the stars highlighted after a user rates it. For some people it is confusing that the color goes away (back to grey) so then they try to click it again and are told they’ve already voted. I commented out line 56 in the js to solve the problem, just wanted to make a suggestion for the next update. Great plugin!

    Hi there,
thanks for using the plugin and your suggestion! Initially, the stars stayed highlighted after vote but then I changed this because it looked weird for users who “color” the stars according to the average rating. In the next version I’ll make so that the stars stay highlighted after rating if the “color the stars with average rating” is disabled. What do you think?

Thanks for the response. I guess I didn’t think about that since I wasn’t coloring the average rating. I think that plugin users would like that option.

Great, I’ll do the changes in the next version ?? Should be out in a week or so.

    +1 for the suggestion!

Once the rating was given, the UI should display the rating without any suggestion to bo able vote again. Hence the final rating should be displayed, optinally with a different title like “Thank you for your rating”.

Maybe I should also add an option to disable “highlighting” the stars on hover after the rating was given? I’ll check it out and find the best solution.

I would not just add the option, but disable it completely and just display the current rating + an alternative “Thank you for your rating” title.

Why inviting the user to interact with an element which will display an error message which basically says “Sorry, you can’t interact since you did that already” afterwards anyway?

Keep up the good work, Blaz. This plugin is fantastic!

@teachersdiscovery in version 2.1.1 which I just released the stars stay highlighted after vote if “color the stars with average rating” is disabled. I also think it looks much better now.

@jrgong I really liked your suggestion that the user should not be able to interact with the rating widget after vote. So, in version 2.1.1 interaction is not possible after vote. Also the “thank you” msg is shown after post is rated. Please try out the new version and let me know what you think.
