Perhaps I’m missing a setting somewhere:

I am using Private Groups for an organization that has a number of committees, which all need confidentiality in their work – both from the public and from each other. That is, a user with access to group 1 should not see even the topic titles for forums that they are not allowed in. Privacy from public view is functioning just fine.

Currently, when logging in and going to the main forums page, a user limited to Forum 1 only sees Forum 1 in the list of forums, BUT we they click on Forum 1, that page lists all the recent topics from all the other forums. I need to have a way that on that Forum 1 page for only topics within Forum 1 display.

Reading the descriptions and documentation of this plugin, it seems like this should be the default, so I’m wondering if I have somehow missed the setting.

Hi Robin! I appreciate your reply.

In this case, it was a new bbPress user error. I made a half-dozen or so forums for my client, each with their own separate group, then wanting to have a sticky post giving information about how to use the forums, I made a sticky post at the top of each separate forum. When I logged in in as a test user with access to only one of the forums, I could see all the sticky posts. That’s what made me think that I was seeing all the recent posts – the user with access to only Forum 1 was seeing sticky posts for other forums.

I don’t think that should happen, but I solved my problem by deleting all of the sticky posts but one, and then making that one post super sticky, so that it intentionally showed for all the users. I did test, and even though a user without access to the forum where the sticky post resides might try to click into it, they are not allowed to access that forum – other than to read the sticky post.

This is a great plugin, and I’m sure I’ll be using it again on another client project soon! Thanks for your hard work!
