keeping existing site running, building with new host

    Hi,

    I’ve been set the task to rebuild our company’s website. We wish to have the existing site up and running while the new site is being constructed.
    At the same time, turns out no-one knows who is the server host for the existing website.

    Therefore I was wondering: is it somehow possible to build a website for the same domaine with a different host, while also keeping the current site running while the new site is constructed?

  • well you could make the site locally?

    most poeple have a local development site and then you push to live.

    As for knowing who the server host is use https://www.whois.net/ to see where the site is being hosted

    I have my existing site https://dealontheweb.com which is running on the different platform. and I am trying to convert it into the wordpress. I have asked many expert and they said you can not convert it as it running on the PHPscript. Is it possible to convert my site to wordpress? Thanks.

    @jiajohn, if you wish to convert your existing site into wordpress, the best approach is to create a blank wordpress site, import the existing data / users directory in the wordpress database and launch your site.

    If you are coming from a different platform, you will have to import data into wordpress site database and map it accordingly.

    Have you talked to your host about this? My experience with your host is that they are very good on support.

    Thanks everyone! I’ve set up a local server and building the site from there, which seem to work very well!
