Keeping out of search engines

  • Hello all,

    I would like to setup a blog that is completely private and that no search engines can crawl. Reason being that the contents of the blog will be confidential.

    Now I read somewhere that WordPress does something to get spiders to crawl your site without you having to do anything. The method I am using to protect my blog is via .htaccess/.htpasswd. So my question is this, with this method of privatizing my blog, will it be enough to keep the spiders out and my information safe?
