• Please help! I am a relative newby to WordPress but have been working on a webpage as a volunteer for a non-profit organization. I have over 30 years in IT but in “big iron” and designing/maintaining large databases rather than web pages. My experience with web design/development is very html code specific.

The problem I am having in WordPress is the lack of a User Manual which would take a command or whatever word WP uses and lists the keywords available for use with this command. For example, the [tagline_box] commands has keywords “title”, “description”, “link” — what other keywords are there? This command is only example — I would like to be able to look up almost everything I code for the keywords. Is there a place to look or do I just experiment?!

I haven’t included the organization’s website because this question is very general and not specific to their site.

Thank you for any help you can give me

  • Shortcodes?

Be aware that some plugins and themes may also provide additional shortcodes.

    bemdesign,
Thank you for your response about Shortcodes. This looks very good — but, again, how do I find these? The page you reference probably tells me but I’m such a newby, I can’t see what it is; it looks like a description on how to create a shortcode but I am far away from doing that! Is there a section of the Codex that lists the shortcodes created so far?
