Did you see any error messages when your site wouldn’t load? Sounds like it might be conflicting with your theme, but hard to say without more details.
I’ll second this. With wp-debug true, here are the errors I get when trying to login to the backend:
Notice: Trying to get property of non-object in badges.learn.thecorkboard.org/wp-content/plugins/badgeos/includes/triggers.php on line 103

With debug off, it adds another 24 seconds of load time to get into the backend. I’m investigating using this plugin with a team of students to use in a massively open online course of 400 students. We’d love to be able to highlight your great work, but at the present time it looks like it is unusable for us.
Let me know if there is anything I can do to help you fix this.
Thanks,
~Kyle~Kyle:
Can you deactivate the Achievements plugin momentarily to see if the issue persists with that plugin deactivated? Our support team can troubleshoot further as needed, but I’d like to see first if perhaps there is a plugin conflict, to isolate the issue you are experiencing.
Hi-
Achievements was deleted, BadgesOS network activated. Load time is still +24 seconds from wp-login.php to wp-admin, and the same errors are thrown with wp-debug true.
E-mail me at kylejones [A T] thecorkboard [D O T] org if you’d like a super admin password.
Thanks!
~Kyle~Hey there-
Any progress on this with the admin account I gave you? Just curious where things are at.
Thanks,
~Kyle~Hi Kyle,
I’ll be the one looking into it, I just haven’t gotten to it quite yet tonight. Still early for me, so still time. I’ll be in touch.
Kyle,
could you give me a list of stuff to look for that you were experiencing?
I have the long load time already. Also could you make sure debugging is on. I’ll be around all night so whenever you can.
I did turn off Achievements for the moment. Haven’t really seen anything funny yet.
Something I’ve noted so far.
On the /badgesos-directory/ page, we need to specifically pass in a achievement type at the moment. The code defaults to “all”, but it isn’t quite done yet. There is also a limit of only one shortcode with one achievement type per page, otherwise the ajax doesn’t seem to work. Hopefully in the next release, we’ll have a proper way to display all badges at once.
Hi Michael-
Debug is back on. The load time is the only issue so far that we’ve experienced, which I documented. But now that I look at the pages with debug on, I’m seeing errors at /badgesos-nomination/ and /badgesos-directory/
Thanks for the heads up about the directory. I think I can design around that for now, but it would be a great feature to have.
Let me know what I can do to help. Thanks.
Have you noticed if it’s an issue that occurs when you have debug turned off? I noticed it for sure after you enabled it, but when I first logged in, I didn’t have any real issue.
Michael-
We did notice it before debug was on. That’s why we started to investigate it. Three different users–myself and two student who are developing the badges–from across the U.S. noticed this.Have any idea what’s up?
I have hunches, but I can’t properly prove them. I think something with the triggers is getting hung up when logging in. One of the things the plugin keeps track of is user login count. As you’ve seen, it seems to stutter and then crash from login button click to success. However, to fix it, I’d need to see what’s going on more in depth and more hands on than just a login to the WP Admin.
Ok, thanks for digging around. This site won’t be deployed until the end of August, so I guess I’ll hope for a fix by then. My dev server is much slower than my robust live server, so maybe it’ll speed up a tad on that.
I’ll keep an eye out for updates. Let me know if you want me to test anything.

Yeah, sorry I wasn’t able to find any immediate solution. I posted to internal resources about my thoughts on trigger.php, but there’s no guarantee we can debug without the actual server in question. However, that’s a lot of trust to put in a 3rd party, with so much access.
Hey Kyle, due to the fact that the BadgeOS team have not observed this behavior on any other site yet, understanding what’s happening on yours, and what additional factors are at play, will be informative. Please contact us via the form at https://badgeos.org/contact/ and include your contact information. We’d like to set up a time to talk in real time, screenshare or get FTP credentials so we can investigate your issue further. We all want to make sure your MOOC is successful.
