Kirki Customizer not working

    I hope you can help me…

    I’m having a problem getting Kirki Customizer to work. I’ve tried it on 3 different sites and although activated, when I go to the WP Customizer there is no Kirki… Just the standard customizer

    If I go to the Chrome Inspect/ Console while I’m on the WP Customizer page, I see the following errors…

    DevTools failed to load SourceMap: Could not load content for …my-path/wp-content/plugins/kirki/modules/custom-sections/sections.css.map: HTTP error: status code 404, net::ERR_HTTP_RESPONSE_CODE_FAILURE
    DevTools failed to load SourceMap: Could not load content for …my-path/wp-content/plugins/kirki/modules/tooltips/tooltip.css.map: HTTP error: status code 404, net::ERR_HTTP_RESPONSE_CODE_FAILURE

    The 3 sites all have different themes and everything is up to date.

    If I go to WP Troubleshooting mode with only Kirki activated, it still doesn’t work..

    Any idea what’s going on?

  • Hi @kendawes,

    do you have specific Customizer Controls defined for your theme? Kirki doesn’t show controls by default in the customizer.

    My apologies! I didn’t RTFM sufficiently – obviously!

    On my quick read, I had assumed that activating the Kirki plugin would simply add the various controls to the WP Customizer and that I’d (likely) turn on or off the controls I wanted from within a Kirki settings interface and would be theme agnostic… Obviously not!

    Looking at your page on integration I can now see how to set up the “recommend install” button in the WP Customizer for a given theme… Though the documentation doesn’t really go into exactly what occurs once the “Install” button is clicked.

    As I mentioned, my goal would to have a Kirki theme-agnostic installation. Might that be able to be accomplished via a file in the mu-plugins folder?
