Kitten theme not showing in Presentations

    Hi guys, I am VERY new to wordpress. I’ve been having issues most of the past two days. Firstly I could not import my posts from Blogger for love nor money so I ended up doing it the old-fashioned way by cut and pasting.

    Secondly, I finally put all my posts in there, choose a new theme which I downloaded from https://www.wpthemesfree.com/view.php?theme_id=980 but I cannot get it to show on the presentation screen.

    I have read many of the other posts that have stated this problem for themes in general. I have checked that it is uploaded to wp-content/themes in its own folder and that it’s not sitting within another folder.

    I’ve also cleared my cache, tried another browswer, reuploaded, renamed the folder and nothing I seem to do is working. I get a 404 error if I try to view the style.css file as was suggested in another post.

  • I had no problem installing and using that theme with WordPress 2.3.1 following these instructions:
    https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Using_Themes#Adding_New_Themes

    It looks like you may have solved the problem cause I thought I saw that theme in action at your site…

    Thanks for the reply Michael…I had a little issue with the installation of WordPress 2.3 which was causing the headaches I was having with theme/plugin installation.

    I’m not sure how it ended up there but there was an extra wordpress folder in my server directory that shouldn’t have been there. Removing the folder and reinstalling WordPress gave me full functionality but still didn’t solve the import problem.

    My new site is now up and running and I’m loving WordPress now ??

    Need Help, I have been trying to cut and paste a quote from a site, sparkpeople, They actually encourage it. How ever I am just getting the text and not the inspirational photo. What am I doing wrong?
