KML URL encoding

Hi, I want to send variables to the URL I specify e.g.
https://mydomain.org/getKMLphp.php?start=19-06-2015&end=22-06-2015
However the ampersand gets encoded (&). Therefore the second variable is not available.
Can this be fixed quickly & easily?
