• I’ve seen recommendations to ditch the default Kubrick theme, pick another and modify that. I went through looking at a bunch of other themes and find that the one I like the most is the default Kubrick theme.

The ONLY thing I want to do is make it fit into my regular site better.

My regular site is https://www.rhdefense.com and the WordPress blog I’m trying to put up can be reached either through https://www.probablecause.us or https://www.rhdefense.com/blog.

For the life of me, I can’t figure out how to change a few things that really have to be changed:

    • I want to change the color of the blog name and description.
    • I want to change the width of the border around the main text so that it will match the width of the header image.
    • I want to change the inside color (i.e., inside the border).

I think that actually might be about it. I thought I knew CSS fairly well. In fact, I actually designed my original site myself. I’m just trying to get the blog to blend with the rest of the site.

Is there a key to the CSS sheet that explains what’s going to change what on the page? Because my regular CSS skills aren’t helping me here.

    Advice?

    Thanks.

One reason people warn others off the Kubrick theme is because it’s a bear to customize. The images aren’t called through the stylesheet like most themes. Plus the shadowed border all around is accomplished with precisely positioned images. A true design nightmare if I do say so. It’s not hard to set up a layout with a header, content, sidebar and footer. That’s the most common layout around and your original site’s stylesheet would be very useful in letting you achieve that look.

Ouch. That’s not just a design nightmare, if you ask me: it’s a warping of the universe!

    I’ve dropped you an email.

    Thanks.

    I’m on it! ??
