    A two parter:

First off. Yes. I should have started off with a theme was more to my liking, but I did not. So, for the moment (until I get some real time to devote to re-doing the site) I am going to stay with the Kubrick theme.

What I want to know is, what do I need to edit to widen it out a bit (pretty sure it’s in the CSS, changing the default 750 (or is it 760?) to something larger) that does not fall into the aforementioned CSS. Are there a lot of images that I am going to have to resize? I already use a custom header (which can be easily changed to the larger one), but, I guess I am just trying to get a feeling of what else I am going to have to do before I start mucking with the CSS.

Secondly, I think that I have a problem with my sidebar when it’s being viewed on the ‘Pages’ aspect of the site. On the ‘home’ page, the sidebar has a grey background, when I click to view a page, the sidebar shows up just as it should except that it is lacking the grey background. It’s not a horrible problem, more aesthetic (sp?) than anything else. But it’s there just enough to annoy me. Is this what is supposed to happen. I only ask because when I first installed WordPress, I could have sworn that the sidebar when displayed on the Pages had the same background. But, that was many changes ago.

Does anyone know how I can fix/change/re-do any of the previous? Your help is always appreciated.

Oooops, the ‘Pages’ that I referred to above is actually renamed ‘TimeKillers.’ Still a WordPress ‘Page’, just different name.

    Thanks again!

  • On your first situation: I can practically guarantee you it will take more of your time to “widen” kubrick than it will to grab another theme that’s more like what you have in mind to begin with.

Kubrick is far FAR more trouble than it’s worth, from that sort of angle.

    1. Everything is image in K.

    I mean the background…
    2. The grey part of the bg image should be there on Pages, too. Unless you modified something in the header.php where some if/else statement define when the sidebar is displayed and how.

EDIT. Yup, you are using another bg image on Pages: https://www.geekweekonline.com/wp-content/themes/default/images/kubrickbgwide.jpg
(with FF is easy, just right-click and “View background image” ??

Thanks guys/gals (whichever the case may be) I had not thought to check to see if it was an actual background image, I had always assumed that it was just a table background color.

And as for the other issue, your probably right. More trouble than it’s worth.

    [added a few minutes later]

Wow, I cannot believe that it took me only about, oh, say, four seconds to edit the header.php file to use the same background as the home page. Works great, or, at least, the way that doesn’t annoy me too much.

    Thanks again!

assumed that it was just a table background color
Which means you never really took a look at the code before asking – there is no table anywhere near WP ??
