• Hi there,

I’m using a (cover block) background image ONLY on the static front page; image fixed for parallax effect: scrolling moves text but not bg image. Looking to do two things with this, and having problems. Hoping someone can point me in the right direction!

    1) Show FONTS ONLY and get rid of the bg color on which the page title and nav bar fonts appear. Because right now, that font bg color obscures the bg IMAGE and scrolls over it as the text moves. In fact, the nav bar/page title completely covers the bg image until scrolled out of the way. Even the scrolled-up footer drags its bg with it. Basically, I need no bg or a transparent background for text and nav bar so they will “float” on the new bg image.

    2) Force the image to resize by viewer device WITHOUT stretching or compressing the image. (Looks good on desktop, but I get a partial image on phone etc.) And even on desktop, zooming in/out moves the sitewide black bg color over /off of the bg image, instead of making that bg image itself bigger or smaller. Bg image size is 1920×1080.

    Many thanks for any help!

  • It sounds like you want the cover block to handle the entire page instead of just the cover block. In other words, it sounds like you want the image you put on the cover block to be on the body tag instead of the cover block.
The background colors on the text make it so that the text is readable. Especially on a drop down menu, the text needs a background color so that there isn’t text on text.
You should ask at your theme’s support forum for styling questions.
The choice of parallax effect means that the image is fixed. This is often incompatible with devices with a viewport, and with resizing.
