• Hi guys,

I’m running my WordPress site locally on XP machine, install, configured properly (as I think), I’m using XAMPP as a webserver control, I can upload themes, browse and see the website properly with all formatting and layouts on the PC from which the site is running, but when I try to access it from the LAN computers running XP Pro. it doesn’t show any formatting nor layout ..only weird text that is all left aligned. Why I’m getting this behaviour of website, no images , no theme, nothing but text???

Sorry but please as If I forgot to mention anything that is required.

    TIA
    Cheers

  • That’s proberly because throughout the theme and WordPress install links are being referred to as …
    localhost

Localhost on the other lan PCs will refer to those PC’s and not the remote PC, so the paths will not be correct…

I think anyway…. i’ve never bothered to try and figure it out…

Look at the source from one of the lan PCs…

If paths are https://localhost/ anything it’s going to think all links refer to the local machine you’re viewing on…

    Hi t31os_
thanks for yout reply, yes you are right, only the first page (index.php) opens but without formatting, no backgroun and not any images…and rest of the links are referred to as localhost.

what should I do to eliminate this?

    TIA
    Cheers

Change the wordpress URL to something else, something that will resolve to the lan PCs.

Like i said, i’ve not had any concern about this behaviour because i personally don’t need it.

I wish i could offer a suggestion or solution but i don’t personally know of one to suggest.

In theory you should be able to use your local IP, eg. 192.168.1.7 etc…
