Set the page to full width. This will hide the sidebar.

After you done that, get back to us here.
Paste that page’s url here. We need to see it’s webpage source code.

In WordPress every page has a unique css class name. Using custom css, we can use that unique class name to hide header, menu, footer only for that page.

when doing this kind of modification does it have to be done in a child theme to prevent being overridden with the next update, or will it be fine as is?

No, you do not need a child theme.

The full width setting is a page option you can find when you Add Page or Edit Page. The value is saved in postmeta table in WordPress database.

The Custom CSS code is to be saved in Theme Options -> Custom CSS, which will be saved in options table in WordPress database.

Updating Theme will not remove them.
