• 1. I had trouble of choosing the encoding of my blog. Sometimes I find the system turns every simplified Chinese characters into “?”. The default of UTF-8 gives me that problem and when i changed the encoding into ASCII, the visual editor stopped working. Currently I have the encoding set on ISO but sometimes it’s switched to GB2312 (simple. Chinese). And sometimes if am to add a blogroll entry with Chinese characters as the name, it will be turn into “????” What is the appropriate encoding for me to use as I mainly write in English but will occasionally add some Chinese and Japanese characters?

    2. I tried to search for a music player plug-in. Though right now the flash player is working fine, I’m curious if there’s a way to use frame so readers can listen to the music without interruption as they read/comment on blogs. Does wordpress support such frame manipulation?

  • 1. utf-8 should work with any kind of language. You just have to make sure the source/input has the same encoding.
    See a test.

thanks, though the ???? problem was solved after i read about deleting lines in the config file. any suggestions with the music player? ??

Good that the encoding works now ??

Sorry, I am on the “silent” side of blogging, have no idea about music things. But frames are bad ??

I was considering using a separate frame for a music player, but it sounds like too much work. Check this thread for more info. I might just use a popup.
