The Spanish translation is about 5 years old, so it might be dated

what is strange:
I deleted now the plugin
installed it once again
and before activating I copied the files in the directory
then I activated the plugin
I went WP-Admin -> Polls -> Polls Template to restore all templates, but noone changed is settings

Yes 5 years is a long time and the string might change and will not work.

Hello, I tried the above with FR translation and doesn’t work.
I created my own .po files, as the existing are old, uploaded them at the plugin’s root folder, restored all templates to defaults and still no translation displaying…

Any clues?

Is your website in German in the first place? Did you try the translation from https://plugins.trac.www.ads-software.com/browser/wp-polls/i18n/

No it’s in French.
I produced both files wp-polls-fr_FR.mo and wp-polls-fr_FR.po (based on wp-polls.pot) and put them at plugin’s root folder and then restored all templates defaults but nothing changed.

I also tried the same with the 6 years old FR files at https://plugins.trac.www.ads-software.com/browser/wp-polls/i18n/
with same results.

But anyway, I can’t reproduce your problem.

1. I downloaded the wp-polls-fr_FR.mo and wp-polls-fr_FR.po https://plugins.trac.www.ads-software.com/browser/wp-polls/i18n/
2. Place both files in /wp-content/plugins/wp-polls/
3. Edit wp-config.php to use define ('WPLANG', 'fr_FR');

Yes, I’m doing exactly the same process but no way to make it work…
No problem. I’ll leave it that way for the moment and if you have a new idea just let me know.

Problem solved as far as I’m concerned: another plugin was blocking the translations – probably because they are at root folder. Disabled and everything works as it should. Thanks for your assistance!
