    Hi guys,

    I′ve installed 3.7-beta1-25639 to my XAMPP localhost. Before install over browser I′ve definded the language in wp-config.php define('WPLANG', 'de_DE');

But the backend is still in english. Only in /wp-content/languages/themes/ there are the two files for TwentyTwelve stored. I was confused to see, that this are the files for German -> formal instead of German -> default.

As Validator for Germany I′ve imported today all strings to the dev-branch on translate.www.ads-software.com. Thus there are all strings available.

Could you please explain, how the strings imported into the wordpress installation and how it can be filtered if informal or formal strings be used?

    Best regards,
    Birgit

    I believe languages in 3.7 is a little different – https://core.trac.www.ads-software.com/ticket/18200

Did you download the language packs for German? I don’t know that they auto-download.

    Hi,

no, I′ve didn′t download the packs manually. I′ve found the german language into /wp-content/languages/themes/ after install.

    Best regards,
    Birgit

Are you sure that’s not just the translation file for the current default theme?

That IS the one for the theme if it’s in themes ??

You have to still download the packs. If you HAD them, they’ll try to upgrade.

Here are some other things you should test out:
If you’re running WordPress in another language, we’ll automatically download any available translations for official WordPress importers and the default themes. (More to come here.)

I followed this statement above from the announcement

And I didn′t download any language files manually. I′ve downloaded the core package from link at the blogpost, changed the WPLANG value and did an install via browser. The language files appears after this installation.

Current theme was after install TwentyThirteen.

    Hey Birgit,
I could reproduce this, will ping some guys about this.

I’ll get this fixed. I think what happened is I exported both German translations, and the formal files overwrote the default ones.
