Language not used in Block settings

Hi,
I am about to set up the Timetable plugin on a german site. When using the plugin functions available in the menu, like adding events or categories , changing plugin settings etc, the translated strings are being used. Even the menu item in the admin menu is shown translated. So that is fine.
However, when editing a page and embedding the timetable block, all the block settings are being displayed in english.
I checked the translation website and found 100% of strings are translated, and indeed the strings that show up in the block configuration are translated.
So the translations are there, but they are not used for the block settings.

On the site in question I use the Neve theme and a handful (not many) plugins, but in addtion I tried it on a dev site where I switched to TwentyTwentyOne and disabled all plugins except timetable. Same result – block customization settings are english.
