    Hi,

I’m trying to understand how the language detection works, if I have the main site at mainsite.com and then I have subdomains for each language like us.mainsite.org, fr.mainsite.com, de.mainsite.com, if I land on mainsite.org, is there a way to redirect to fr.mainsite.com if my browser has French as primary language? and if I’m in France and I land on uk.mainsite.com will it redirect me to fr.mainsite.com?

    thanks

Also, I have added the en_NZ ( new zealand ) locale but it is not showing up in the languaeg manager

    Hi,

please have a look at this post.

Language Negotiation has to be enabled both on the MultilingualPress (Network) settings page (this is done by default) and for each site individually (this is not done by default, so you have to edit every site from which you would like to redirect users to another, better site). Please see through these slides of the talk I gave just two days ago. Navigate with [SPACE].

And what do you mean by you added en_NZ?
Did you install the according Core WordPress language pack, or did you edit an entry in the Language Manager and saved it?

    Kind regards,
    Thorsten

    Thanks, those links seem helpful.

I meant I added the core language pack, are you saying I should add the locale manually to the language manager?

also, do I need to use the site relationship feature for the redirection to work?
EDIT: ah yes it seems so. So basically I need to create relationship between all languages
