    Hello,

ive encountered a problem with the automatic redirects.
Problem: Every Browser which uses German language gets redirectet to the Swiss Page

    Used Languages:
    en-GB
    de-AT
    de-CH

User from Austria (de-AT) get redirectet to the Swiss Page (de-CH) = not OK
User from Swiss (de-CH) get redirectet to the Swiss Page (de-CH) = OK
User with English Browser get redirecet to the english Page (en-GB) = OK
Info: Swiss was the last Language which was implementet.

    Hi weseo,

We don’t know completely what the status of your visitors is (we don’t know what HTTP-AcceptLanguage header values they send), we assume they just send de, and then they get the first language version with the highest priority.

A couple of solutions comes to my mind:
Option 1 – Get rid of Austrian in German language (just use de in HTTP and wp_locale), that way only visitors sending de_CH will be redirected to Swiss site.
Option 2 – Add a higher priority to the German (de_AT).

I also recommend you to update MultilingualPress to the latest version.

    Thanks,
    Emili

Please note that gsw is not the same as de_CH. If you want to use German (Switzerland), use de_CH. gsw is for a spoken dialect (Swiss German). It’s not used anywhere on the internet and it’s not the same as German (Switzerland).

Your first list entry should look more like this:

    Native Name: Deutsch
    English Name: German (Switzerland)
    HTTP: de-ch
    wp_locale: de_ch_informal
