I have been working on a translation into the norwegian language from the english 1.2 WordPress POT-file available on the wiki . I’m aware of the fact that there already exists a norwegian translation, and my version is loosely based on that one, but I wanted to make quite a few adjustments to it.
What piece of software should I use when converting my PO-file to a MO language file readable by WordPress?
    Any help is appreciated.
    Regards
    Dan

    Well, actually… :p

Yeah, poEdit is the translator’s firend ??
It creats automatically a .mo file when saving the .po file.

My poEdit does no. Is there anything special I should do to make it work? I am editing sv_SE.po, saving it under temporary name sv_SE-ja.po, but no sv_SE-ja.mo shows up.

In File > Preferences… look for the tab Editor, and check the “Automatically compile .mo on save” checkbox

Thanks Moshu, but that checkbox is ticked. I think it might have to do with an error in poEdit or the translation. It will not accept “% comments” translated to “% kommentarer” and gives a fatal error. Maybe with this fixed it would build the .mo?

    Look at Rosetta Tranlations: WordPress

I cant login in ROSETTA ??? already register on mail list and everiting is OK but login not work…

i TRY very hard work with poEdit but the documentation is not clear for me …

Is require more than poEdit.exe to translate WP tags??

I think poEdit read the tags in my files on root of WP and next translate … im wrong??

How that poEdit works ???(the readme and FAQ fo home page dosnt work for me)

How i configure that?? what i put in path??

The WP 1.5 is totaly diferent than 1.2.2 .. so some things he dont tranlate …. i have .po and .mo files but in 1.2, index.php HAVE line 119 and in 1.5 not.

    If anyone help-me i apreciate.

    Thanks

Have you looked at poEdit’s help menue?
    It’s very helpful… ??

and as far as rosetta is concerned: you need to register with ubuntu to get the rosetta login working. ??

poEdit’s help menue dont help me heheh …

    – In ROSETTA i found the registry way but when enter for the portuguese(BR) file and start to translate, the php lines of “.po” file isnt the same of my new instalation of WP 1.3 …(?) …so i decide go to CVS and take a look in INDEX.PHP os the most recent version and … wow … have only like 4 lines ????
