• I had installed WordPress about 2 weeks back.

There is an error_log that is being created and it is already 4 mb in size. It is growing rapidly. I believe the log has PHP errors. Can I remove the file from server? Is there a way to fix this?

    Thanks in advance.

  • Have you actually looked in this error log?

You should never remove an error log. Look at this log. Sometimes an otherwise functioning site can have a huge log because of something simple like your “favicon.ico” is called for but doesn’t exist.

The file is safe to remove and you can do so if you wish.

BUT unless you fix the errors that are being logged in that file it will kepe in being re-generated. That’s what it’s for – to tell you that there’s something that’s not working as it should. Having said that, the main times that I’ve seen the error_log file get to that sort of stage is when there’s been a badly coded plugin installed on the site.

It may look a bit daunting, but it’s worth it to get it all working smoothly.
