• When viewing a directory with a large image file, noting loads except for a white bar at the top of the page.

In the console you get a 500 error:
Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 500 ()

However, it goes away if a smaller file (with the same name) is to overwrite the old one. Then, the thumbnail is generated and I can overwrite it again with the big version that previously didn’t work and that will load. If I delete the thumbnail, the page breaks again.

So, I’m inclined to think something is preventing the plugin from generating the thumbnail and coming back with it which then breaks the page. Not sure exactly where the cutoff is, but I’m guessing around 2M, as other large images below that seem to load fine. I can’t find any limit on the server that’s causing this. Is there some limit to the size of the file where thumbs can no longer be generated?

Not a specific limit. Depends on a number of factors on your server side. Only thing you can do is manually include a thumbnail for that file or do what you did and generate it from a smaller file. You can upload your own thumbs for situations like that. That’s what I’ve found many users do.

It’s running on a dedicated server, here’s our server environment:

Does anything jump out at you for things we could tweak?
