I have gigabytes of disk space being taken up by “photo-gallery-2022-10-30-20-52-54.zip” type of files. Some with “temp” suffixes.
It’s busting my hosting package so I’d like to understand what these files are are and whether they can be safely deleted.

    Any ideas?

Hello, dear @oldclicker , thanks a lot for reaching out to us,

Do you have Download option enabled from the gallery settings? Files of this sort are created in the uploads folder if the gallery download option is enabled and a frontend user pushes download button, but normally such files are deleted automatically right after downloading.

They can be deleted but to investigate why it is not done automatically I should ask you to contact our technical team to solve this issue, please contact us using the following form”. Please mention your website’s URL and this forum post link in your email’s subject line.

    Thanks in advance!

Thanks for your comprehensive answer – yes, I did at one point have the download option enabled. I turned it off a while back. Great to have an explanation of where these files have come from.
I’ve had to delete them – they were filling my disk space so I wasn’t able to leave them on the server for investigation. I needed to stop the increasingly urgent disk space warnings from my hosting company.
Anyway, issue resolved – I’ll not enable the download option again – thanks!
