    Hi Tobias,

I have been using TablePress (and WP-Tables) for a long time, and very pleased with the excellent plugin and support.

    Quick Question:
Will the TablePress plugin work if I expand from the current 500+ tables to say 10,000++ to even 50,000+ – some of them being large with 1,000’s of rows and 10-12 col’s each?

i.e., is there anything with the way they are loaded that would hamper the functionality or responsiveness, if the plugin includes that many tables, with many being large.

If the response is that maybe TablePress is not the solution, would you mind suggesting what possible solution(s) might be in that case?

    Thanks for your response.

    Best,

    Hi,

I don’t have experience or results of sites with that many tables, and therefore would recommend looking into solutions that scale better.
There are indeed a few places where I can foresee that loading even the meta data for those tables will cause problems (like the “List of Tables” or the WordPress search).

Using a custom database solution should therefore be better here and deliver a higher performance.

    Hi Tobias,

Just thought of an alternative, and would like your opinion if this would work with TablePress.

Since 99% of the tables are identical, i.e., same column headings, same # of columns, etc., have an index column for the table no., but literally then there would be millions of rows in the same table.

Would TablePress be able to work with that?

    Thanks,

    Hi,

no, that also would not really be a feasible solution. A table with millions of rows will cause even more problems than many tables, I’m afraid.

However, as your tables have this structure, this should be a good starting point for creating a real mySQL database table for this, which can handle millions of rows easily.

    Regards,
    Tobias
