Last update is a mess !
-
ello,
i have been using your plugin in a website for a while, but last update just suppressed many blocks settings. I have to go over dozens of them again, in all the posts, that’s hours and hours of work..
Struggling with posts grid blocks just now, they lost all their settings, and then I cannot change title colors anymore, they’re white and that’s it..
Buttons have lost their padding, got to go over ALL of them, hundreds of them…
Frankly I do not have time to build this website again…may you please give the possiblity of a rollback ? Thanks

We work as a team, and forums don’t allow us to assign any particular issue with the respective developers. In public forums, requesting confidential details such as screenshots or a website backup is tricky.
So if you would like to help us identify and fix the issue faster, I would encourage you to fill in the form on our website and share details. Once the issue is fixed or new information is available, you’re welcome to share it here in the forum for other users.
If you would like to stick to the forum and continue the discussion here, we will need the clone of the website before updating and maybe screenshots or a video that would demonstrate the problem.
I did write a ticket.
I rolled back to previous version so I suppose I must send you a clone, but how ?I would like to understand the issue you’re having accurately. It could be different from other users, and what worked for others might not be the right solution for you.
If you kindly share elaborate on which settings have not migrated for you and more details such as some screenshots — we would appreciate it.
Look forward to serving you.
@sujaypawar / I’ve deleted your offer to login to your user’s site. I’m am 100% sure you mean well but please never ask for credentials on these forums.
Asking for the .zip of a clone gives you the ability to login into a user’s site. You may not do that here.

Now for the why: The internet is a wonderful place full of very nice people and a few very bad ones. I’m sure everyone here is very nice however, by giving some ones keys to your house you are trusting they wont steal anything. Likewise the person who takes the keys is now responsible for the house FOREVER.
If something was to go wrong, then you the author may well legally become liable for damages, which they would not normally have been as their software is provided without warranty.
Please be aware that repeatedly asking for credentials will result in us escalating this to the plugins team.
It’s never necessary to do that. Here’s why.
There are many ways to get information you need and accessing the user’s site is not one of them. That’s going too far.
- Ask for a link to the https://pastebin.com/ or https://gist.github.com log of the user’s web server error log.
- Ask the user to create and post a link to their
phpinfo();
output. - Ask the user to install the Health Check plugin and get the data that way.
- Walk the user through enabling WP_DEBUG and how to log that output to a file and how to share that file.
- Walk the user through basic troubleshooting steps such and disabling all other plugins, clear their cache and cookies and try again.
- Ask the user for the step-by-step on how they can reproduce the problem.
You get the idea.
Volunteer support is not easy. But these forums need to a safe place for all users, experienced or new. Accessing their system that way is a short cut that will get you into real trouble in these forums.
I understand and thank you for volunteering and keeping the forums clean ??
It seems a better course of action would have been instead of deprecating advanced columns, make a different block called container and keep the advanced columns. I would suggest an update to the plugin that adds support back in for this without deprecating. It would be like woocommerce suddenly changing the product category taxonomy name randomly for no apparent reason.
@calebprenger85 I think that’s what they’ve done, but also made changes which broke it as well!
@delanthear no, that’s not what they did. If you install it on a new website, it’s gone. The only time it appears is on an old website. It shouldn’t have been done.
It wouldn’t be a deprecation then.
For what it’s worth, I’ve been able to recreate all the stuff in the new container block now. If I was installing Spectra, I wouldn’t need the advanced columns at all. It’s just a shame the transition between the two is broken.
It’s deprecation. That’s literally what it said on the websites that use advanced columns. The problem isn’t that I don’t know how to use containers. I can use them. My problem is what happens to the websites I created with these for the past 2-3 years? What about all my websites I currently am working on that are almost done and I used advanced columns to design them?
This is the problem. Breaking functionality and changing the way things work are huge problems and a good way to lose customers.
Agreed, it would’ve been be cool to give us an option for keeping the advanced columns (and maybe the other deprecated blocks but this is one is just really central), so we can just build new sites with the new containers and decide where to put in the work of converting deprecated blocks. Could be an additional plugin if it’s making Spectra too cluttered I guess… like, just UAGB marked as discontinued, so we know not to expect support for bugs there anymore.
Hey guys,
I just wanted to share an update:
1. We have identified and fixed some issues in the Advance Columns, Icon List, FAQ, Post & Table of Content Blocks. Our developers have already fixed them, and our QA team is testing them. A new version will be released in a few hours.
2. We hear your sentiments about the “deprecated” blocks. We’re discussing this internally and find out a solution.
Thank you for all the feedback. And once again, we’re sad that this update has caused you issues.
Our team worked hard, tried its best to make it a smooth transition from prior versions to 2.0, and ran an extensive public beta testing program for several weeks. However, it seems we could not test all these possibilities. We’re so sorry for the trouble.
I hate to be a jerk and all, and it’s great that they worked hard and did an “extensive public beta” which most of us didn’t know about. But this does not change the fact I have a large number of websites using this that are now broken.
Again, take woocommerce for example. They don’t just randomly change the way the entire plugin works, and the things they do change, they automatically update via their scripting.
Removing and deprecating blocks is not the solution here. Deprecation means I need to go and replace all these websites because it could be removed in a few days, weeks or months. Most of my clients will likely think I will do this for free and when I won’t, they will be upset. I guess this is why I try to write most things myself and don’t use other plugins people make…
Hello @avz,
There is a new release of Spectra 2.0.3 that has fixed most issues that came up with the latest updates. Please update to Spectra version 2.0.3. After updating, please be sure to regenerate the assets. We do this automatically after the plugin is updated, but just to be sure, go to “Spectra > Settings > Asset Generation > Regenerate Assets” and press the button.
Also, empty cache and hard reload while on the editor screen. Here’s how: https://share.bsf.io/2NumNvZ2.
Hope this helps.
Regards.
