  • Hi Kent, do you see your latest post in the dashboard? If you click “View post” from the dashboard, do you see the post alright on the front end? Could you paste the URL of the post here?

    Hi Kathryn,
thank you for your quick reply, Yes i can see the post in the dashboard and here you go the url https://www.existenz.it/il-giovane-favoloso/
the only thing i changed is the structure of the url i mean:
    before i use this structure:
    https://www.existenz.it/2014/07/11/popsophia-e-poi/
and now i removed the date so it’s like this:
    https://www.existenz.it/il-giovane-favoloso/
    does it help?
    thanks
    kent

Normally when you change your permalink structure to remove the date portion, old URLs like this – https://www.existenz.it/2014/07/11/popsophia-e-poi/ – should redirect to the new URL, but that’s not happening on your site ,so something looks to be amiss with your permalinks.

Could you try re-saving your permalink structure – under Settings > Permalink, click save. Make sure WordPress has write access to your .htaccess file.

    Hi Kathryn,
I tried but it seems that it’s not working…
how do i make sure wp has accesse to my .htaccess?
    thanks

how do i make sure wp has accesse to my .htaccess?

It depends on your server’s setup.

You may want to ask your host for help making sure .htaccess has the correct permissions or try posting in the general support forums, since this isn’t a theme-specific issue.

Another route is to manually update your permalink settings in your .htaccess file by editing them in a text editor and uploading them back to your server via FTP, but you need to be very careful when doing this, as it’s very easy to break your site with a mis-edited .htaccess file.

    Hi Kathryn,
I have been reading a lot of tread on the wp support page
    https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Using_Permalinks
in particular the section: Automatically updating .htaccess
i followed the instruction but it’s not working at all ??
i emailed my host in order to know what are the right permissions for .htaccess.
I’d like to thank you for your precious support
    kent

Your host should be able to help with permissions. I hope that regenerating permalinks gets your missing posts showing up again.

    You’re very welcome.

    Hi Kathryn,
just got right now the answer by my host, they say to set it up with permission 755, but it’s not working ??

Which part is not working, setting the permissions on your file or resetting your permalinks?

It looks like the posts on your site are still using the date-based permalink structure right now.

You may want to ask your host for some hands-on help at this point.

setting permakinks is fine, i’m not able to make show the latest post, it’s sticky to the last post with the old permalinks structure…

    1. To rule out a theme issue, could you try switching to a default theme like Twenty Fourteen temporarily?

You may need to reset widgets afterwards, so you may want to make a note of which are active.

    2. Earlier, I thought you mentioned that you got rid of the date (year, month, day) in your URL structure, when you said this:

the only thing i changed is the structure of the url i mean:
    before i use this structure:
    https://www.existenz.it/2014/07/11/popsophia-e-poi/
and now i removed the date so it’s like this:
    https://www.existenz.it/il-giovane-favoloso/

If your permalink structure change had been fully successful, then you would no longer see URLs like this one, which I got to by clicking the first permalink on your homepage:

    https://www.existenz.it/2014/07/11/popsophia-e-poi/

This is why it doesn’t look to me like your permalink structure was successfully changed the first time around, and why I suggested you re-save them.

Since permalinks are not a theme-related issue, you may also want to try posting in the main troubleshooting forum where you may get other suggestions for how to get that issue fixed up:

    Hi Kathryn,
here is the thing, i switched theme as suggested to Twenty Fourteen theme but the change is not showing up, i can still see the old theme…. so i tried to switch to another theme but it’s not working too…
    now i’m desperate!

    Hi Kathryn,
I fixed the issue it was related with the plugin WP Fastest Cache.
I really would like to thank you very much for your precious help.
    cheers
