Latest Posts Block — Read More and Max Words

I’m using the Latest Posts block and not seeing a way to add Read More — am I missing it?

I saw this post, but it didn’t help: https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/missing-read-more-link-2/

(I thought adding Gutenberg plugin might give me this option, but it didn’t.)

Also, it seems the “Max number of words in excerpt” setting is having no impact on the excerpt shown.
