    Hello Pascal,
    So this last update removed the database and monthly auto update of the database, making this plug useless until I download manually and then upload a database the plugin needs to work? I saw your last changelog, and it seems licensing forced you to do this. This was a great plugin before this last update.

    Do you have any updates planned that will make this plugin work automatically again?

  • Maybe WordPress should develop a permissions/acceptance thing like you see on android apps – “this plugin can: automatically download additional files, etc.”.

    Since that’s not very likely, I have some ideas for ways to work around this…

    Would it be possible to move the automatic updates feature to a separate plugin, host that plugin yourself, and recommend that plugin with a link within the iQ Country Block settings page?

    If not, would it be possible to move the database location to the current month’s upload folder? That way we could upload the dat file through WordPress Media Library. (or would that not work, are dat files allowed? if not, is there a way to make them allowed?)

    One more idea, I don’t know anything about the MaxMind license and redistribution, but could you include the database in the plugin files and update the plugin monthly with the new database?

    Hi there. Great plugin and thank you. I just want to confirm and make sure I understand something correctly.

    If I purchase the API key for the annual fee from this link: https://geoip.webence.nl/ then I will not have to download the database on a monthly basis. That purchase ensures the database is automatic with all updates going forward?

    Hi Alanaj7,

    If you have an API key the lookup of an IP address will be done against the GeoIP API. If you have an API key you do not have to download the databases yourself.

    How do we get this database update again? Like do you have a direct link to get it? I updated mine a week ago but again I’m seeing quite a few countries getting through.
