I just updated Solid Security (to 8.0.4) on a few of my sites and I got a fatal error on all of them:

    Fatal error: Uncaught Error: Interface ‘iThemesSecurity\Contracts\Import_Export_Source’ not found in /home/customer/www/groenteavontuur.nl/public_html/wp-content/plugins/ithemes-security-pro/core/modules.php:16 Stack trace: #0 /home/customer/www/groenteavontuur.nl/public_html/wp-content/plugins/ithemes-security-pro/core/core.php(125): require() #1 /home/customer/www/groenteavontuur.nl/public_html/wp-content/plugins/ithemes-security-pro/ithemes-security-pro.php(99): ITSEC_Core->init(‘/home/customer/…’, ‘Solid Security …’) #2 /home/customer/www/groenteavontuur.nl/public_html/wp-settings.php(462): include_once(‘/home/customer/…’) #3 /home/customer/www/groenteavontuur.nl/public_html/wp-config.php(110): require_once(‘/home/customer/…’) #4 /home/customer/www/groenteavontuur.nl/public_html/wp-load.php(50): require_once(‘/home/customer/…’) #5 /home/customer/www/groenteavontuur.nl/public_html/wp-admin/admin.php(34): require_once(‘/home/customer/…’) #6 /home/customer/www/groenteavontuur.nl/public_html/wp-admin/index.php in /home/customer/www/groenteavontuur.nl/public_html/wp-content/plugins/ithemes-security-pro/core/modules.php on line 16

Not sure if its just me, but I got it on multiple websites. I now turned the plugin off by renaming the folder, but I don’t want to keep it off too long offcourse.

I hope someone can help me! ??
    Thanks in advance!

    Best regards,
    Laura Jacob

Hi @laurajacob1986, thank you for reaching out.

I can replicate this error on my test sites, and I have reported this to our development team to investigate and fix it as soon as possible.

I appreciate the heads-up, and I’ll surely get back to you when I have news on the update.

    Thanks!

    Hallo Laura,

I have tried the above fix – removing the old installation directory and replacing it with a freshly unzipped plugin and still get a fatal error when to trying to activate it.

We are using w3-total-cache. Would that be having any impact on routing?

    Versions:
    WordPress: 6.4.1 – php-fpm: 8.1.25

Is it possible to get the 8.0.3 version of the Pro plugin, the last one that worked to replace the current one until the root cause is found?

Same here for most sites I manage. Using the pro version of 8.0.4.

UPDATE: tried manual deletion of folder and new install but it still gives a fatal error (and won’t activate)

    Hi everyone,

    We appreciate your patience!

Our team has identified the issue affecting Solid Security Pro 8.0.4, and we are urgently working on a fix. If you have a recent site backup that you can use to revert to v8.0.3, please use that, but if not, please submit a ticket on our helpdesk page (you can mention my .org username, too) so we can give you a link for the correct zip which you can use in the meantime.

    Thank you all for understanding.

    (@cuttlefishjones)

I have re-installed the 8.0.4 replacement after downloading from my account and I can confirm that this has fixed the issue. Thank you.

    Hi everyone,

I’m happy to inform you that the corrected ZIP is now deployed to the SolidWP Member Panel. Please grab the latest ZIP from your SolidWP Member Panel account and install it on your site. And if you have reverted to an older version, updating directly from the WordPress plugins page should be good to go!

We appreciate you letting us know about this, and feel free to reach out again if you have other issues!

    Hey folks,

I’m the head of support here, and I wanted to personally weigh in.

As @shanedelierrr mentioned, we resolved the problem and are now working to ensure that something like this can’t happen again.

Here’s the short version: we were making some changes to an internal process that deploys updates late last night (US time) and we released changes to that process not realizing a typo actually ran the deployment for Solid Security Pro, but ran it incorrectly.

So while there wasn’t even a release of Solid Security Pro last night, silently the ZIP that users install by clicking “update” was errantly replaced with a half-built ZIP. That caused lots of problems.

As soon as our US-based dev team came online, we isolated the problem and fixed that ZIP file, so anyone who updated Security Pro since 9:19AM eastern US time has not experienced a problem.

So, in summary: there is no issue in version 8.0.4 of Solid Security Pro. There was a 7-hour period where the servers that supplied that version were delivering an unfinished ZIP. That’s been solved now.

This issue had no effect on Solid Security Basic, so the vast majority of users should see no issue here.

Rest assured we are working hard to ensure that issue can’t happen again. The integrity of your sites is the whole reason we are in business.

Thanks for the update . I have only a few plugins set to ‘trusted’ in mainwp and Solid Security Pro was one of them. Yesterday that resulted in about 30 sites going down ?? All is good now but will be more careful with auto updates in the future.

    Keep up the good work!
