This is more an FYI, but after installing the latest update, I noticed two style issues that could only be resolved by reverting to the previous version of Hummingbird. Here are the two issues:

1a) Image galleries were not displaying properly (they only respected the default content width and didn’t adjust to screen size, meaning gallery images were too large and hidden behind other content).
1b) Clicking on gallery images no longer opened a slideshow and instead loaded the specific image.
    2) Some menu CSS was ignored.

To be clear, viewing the page unminified and reverting the plugin to it’s previous version solved the problem. Removing compression from asset optimization did nothing (also, many files are pre-compressed somewhere and therefore, cannot be compressed).

Again, this is more of an FYI. For now, I’m content with just not updating the plugin.

    Hi @amcookie,

We appreciate that you are taking time with providing us with more feedback. However, I’m afraid, the issue sounds more specific to your website.

It’s tough to say what might have caused without seeing the issue live. Could you please check whether you have “Clear full cache when post/page is updated” option enabled under Hummingbird > Caching > Page Caching

And also check whether “File Change Detection” is set to “Automatic” under Hummingbird > Caching > Settings.

If these options weren’t enabled, please do enable it and then check whether you still notice the same issue after updating the plugin.

Please do let us know how that goes. Have a nice day ahead.

    Kind Regards,
    Nithin

    Hi @wpmudevsupport11,

Thank you for your recommendations, but unfortunately, neither of these fixed the problem. Is there anything else in my settings that could be causing the minification issue?

Here’s an example with plenty of improperly formatted galleries (near the bottom of the article): https://www.hesaidorshesaid.com/destinations/south-america/patagonia-budget-travel-guide-and-road-trip-itinerary/

Also, when scrolling over a mega menu item, the mega menu should cover the width of the viewport and not only the width of the menu.

Viewing the page unminified solves both issues.

Thanks in advance for your continued support. ??

I’ve restored the plugin backup again. Please let me know when you’re ready to look into this again, so that I can re-update the plugin and you help you see what I see.

P.S. I also tried restoring the old version of my theme to see if that was causing a conflict and it was not.

    Hello there @amcookie

This sounds more like an Asset Optimization issue. Are you using the Advanced Mode in it? Maybe using “move to footer” and/or “defer” options? Cause other updates can change the loading assets, so you may have to re-visit your settings there.

Let me also share a couple of recent documentation pages we added, that can really assist:

    Hi Dimitris,

Thank you for your reply and the tips! I completely redid my asset optimization and that fixed both issues (even though my settings are the same as before?).

I’ll be sure to try that again in the future if any other problems arise.

    Thanks again!
