    I am getting this notification after Recent Update

    Because of a change in your permalink structure, some of your SEO data needs to be reprocessed.
    We estimate this will take a couple of minutes.

    And below, there is a button, START OPTIMIZATION.

    Should I click it? I have not change any permalink structure. Why this notification is coming out? Please Help.

  • Hi @akiraanastasia,

    You mentioned that you inspected your homepage URL using Bing, and it says that it is having problems showing your site in search results. Can you share any of the details about the errors or which URL this affects? You can also send us a link to any screenshots.

    Check image. This is same for every url from our site.

    Hi @akiraanastasia,

    Thanks for the screenshot. We see the following error messages from Bing in the screenshot:

    “URL cannot appear on Bing.”

    “The inspected URL has been indexed successfully but there are some issues which prevent us from serving it to our users. Please contact Bing Webmaster support for more details.”

    Bing mentions the canonical URL, but the canonical URL on the homepage refers to itself. This is what we expected to see, so there doesn’t appear to be an error related to Yoast SEO’s meta tags.

    Because this error is specific to Bing and doesn’t affect Google search results, we recommend contacting Bing Webmaster support to get more details about why this is happening for your site.

    Yes, already sent them emails but no replies.

    Can you tell/guess the reason of the problem? We don’t see any wrong content on our site. Even site was performing great on bing till August. This can be due to haters/competitors reporting the site?

    @akiraanastasia It’s difficult to speculate since the issue is restricted to Bing, and we aren’t seeing anything that would prevent it or may us suspect that. I think the next step if you can’t reach them directly is to check with your hosting provider to see there is anything specifically blocking Bing on the site/server.

    As you said the site was showing up in Bing without issues until August. Search engine crawlers/bots can cause high amounts of activity on servers, and I’ve seen cases where either an administrator or a security plugin/module accidentally (or intentionally) blocked them.

    Other than that, you may also try contacting Bing through another channel if you aren’t getting a response via email, such as a forum or social media.

    Hi @akiraanastasia,

    We’re glad to know that the notification is gone. We can explain a bit more about what the “Optimize SEO data” feature does below:

    With Yoast SEO 14.0, we’ve introduced new database tables in which we combine all the metadata for indexable objects on a site. This allows the plugin to access and display the SEO data for your pages in a faster and more efficient way. The “Optimize SEO data” button scans all your pages and fills the Yoast database tables with this information.

    Since this doesn’t change information like the SEO titles or descriptions and only affects where Yoast SEO stores its own internal data, we don’t expect this to have any effect on search engines or page ranking.

    Update: The site is back in Bing! There was one email containing “we will get back to after investigation etc.” Now the site is back. They haven’t sent another email about what caused the issue.

    @carl Do check on your side and tell me if you see the results/any errors.

    @akiraanastasia That’s great news ??

    I checked on the site in Bing search and was able to confirm that it is showing up as being indexed (see image here).

    I also checked several pages on the site and confirmed that all are showing the robots meta tag as being set to index as the following:

    <meta name="robots" content="index, follow, max-snippet:-1, max-image-preview:large, max-video-preview:-1" />

    Also, I rechecked your site’s robots.txt and sitemap and everything shows as having the correct settings.
