    I send an RSS email via MailChimp every other week. Two weeks ago, it went out just fine. Today, when I sent a test, the email said simply: No RSS items found.

    Checking the RSS feed on a couple validators showed it was valid but flagged a problem in the title. There was an “&” in the title and Yoast was set to use an emdash between the title and the website name. The validator flagged both of these characters as potential problems.

    I de-activated Yoast SEO from my website and all worked again.

    Not sure why the problem.

    I have successfully used Yoast with NO CHANGES for years, but there seems to have been something in the recent update that did not work with MailChimp’s RSS.

    I have a website that the RSS populates and as far as I can tell, the website is still working with Yoast SEO activated. It also works just as well with Yoast SEO deactivated.

    Sorry to hear that you’re having trouble with Yoast SEO. To investigate the issue further, we’ll need step-by-step information on how we can reproduce it on our end.

    So, can you please confirm how exactly can we reproduce the issue on our end so that we can investigate the issue further?

    We look forward to hearing from you.

    Here’s how the email generally looks with Yoast SEO plugin activated.

    Here’s a link to images of what happened last week: https://imgur.com/a/ZsoVLD8

    The first image shows the test email I always send to myself before sending to the mailing list. It said simply: No RSS items found. The email generally looks like the 3rd image (or the link at the top of this post).

    When I ran the rss link through a validator, the validator flagged a parsing error.

    I have made no changes to any of the settings in Yoast. And the email that was sent two weeks ago (this is a bi-weekly email) had no problems. The only change was the Yoast update.

    Hope this makes sense.

    Hi,

    While the Yoast SEO plugin does add the RSS variables, we aren’t aware of any recent changes to the plugin that would cause this issue.

    Are you able to still test and recreate this issue of getting the ‘No RSS items found’ with the latest version of Yoast SEO v18.0 enabled? If so, we recommend that you file a bug report by following the steps here – https://yoast.com/help/how-to-write-a-good-bug-report/

    I just ran an email test with Yoast SEO v18.1 activated. The email still does not work as long as Yoast SEO is activated on the website the RSS feed is coming from. Test #2 worked fine as soon as the plugin was de-activated.

    I will attempt the “good bug” report when I have more time. Looks like a rather daunting task.

    Hi,

    We recommend that you test this out on a default set-up with a WP theme such as TwentyTwenty, and only the Yoast SEO plugin, as well as the necessary things you need to set up for the RSS feed and emails, by doing a conflict check just to ensure that there isn’t any other theme or plugin that is causing a potential conflict before logging the bug report. We appreciate your assistance on this!

    As an FYI: The issue is certainly not resolved as of my last email, but de-activating the Yoast SEO plugin allows the RSS email to be created and sent as it has in the past. I just do not have time right now to write the kind of bug report you have requested. Sorry.

    I am having a similar issue to this one. After updating to the most recent version of Yoast my rss feed stopped validating. I was able to fix the title problem by switching to a different separator. Unfortunately, I can’t figure out why my link is being cleared.

    Without Yoast:
    <title>areas – Site Name</title>
    <atom:link href=”https://sitename.com/category/areas/feed/&#8221; rel=”self” type=”application/rss+xml” />
    <link>https://farmpolicynews.illinois.edu</link&gt;

    With Yoast:
    <title>areas Archives – Site Name</title>
    <atom:link href=”https://sitename.com/category/areas/feed/&#8221; rel=”self” type=”application/rss+xml” />
    <link></link>

    Any thoughts on where Yoast might be overwriting my rss link tag?
