Hi team – since updating to the latest version of WP-Job manager, using the search option generates a critical error.

Not many clues in my logs unfortunately (and I did not receive an email from my website advising more of further information).

    (500 GET /browse-jobs/?search_keywords=carpenter&search_location=&post_type=job_listing HTTP/1.1)

Reverting the plugin to version 2.3.0 the search option works fine without generating any errors.

I’m unsure if this is just me or what code may have changed in the search functionality that may have generated this error.

  • That’s certainly unexpected! We haven’t heard from others about this, so it sounds like it could be a conflict of some kind. Have you tried temporarily switching to a default theme, such as Twenty Twenty, disabling all other plugins, re-enabling them one-by-one, and testing in between each plugin activation? That may help you find the cause of the issue.

    No.

Respectfully everything worked fine until wp job manager was updated, with the old version everything works fine ( restoring the old version also fixes the issue) With the new version my search is broken.

So trouble shooting would suggest, wp job manager broke something. ???♂?

I have Version 2.4.0 on my site and I am not seeing any errors when I search.

Can you start by updating any other plugins that require it?
    ?
If that doesn’t help, I suspect other plugins you may have installed on your site could be causing this issue. Could you try temporarily disabling all plugins and revert to a default theme??

I recommend testing things on a staging site rather than on your production (live) site. Many hosts provide a staging service, where you can do testing without affecting the live site. You can ask your host about this. If they don’t give you a staging site, you could try WP Staging or Duplicator:

    https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/duplicator/
    ?
First, temporarily switch to?Twenty Twenty-Three, which is one of the default WordPress themes. If things still don’t work properly with Twenty Twenty-Three, please try checking for conflicting plugins.
    ?
To do so, temporarily disable all plugins but WP Job Manager (and related addons), and see if the issue resolves. If it does, try activating your plugins one by one and try to reproduce the problem. If it comes back when you activate a particular plugin, you’ve found the culprit.
    ?
If you’d rather not create a staging site,?Health Check?is a tool that can be useful for debugging, though it requires an official default theme like?Twenty Twenty-Three. On the troubleshooting tab, you can click the button to disable all plugins and change the theme for you while you’re logged in to that session without affecting normal visitors to your site.

Let us know how this goes!
