    Hello. The problem i have noticed another user has actually posted about is that when transferring a website using duplicator, the charset gets changed to latin1 for some reason.

    I can’t show much data as i’m working for a bureau..

    I tried transferring another client to a live site, where every danish character ? ? and ? has been changed to odd characters.

    it started with
    /** Database charset to use in creating database tables. */
    define( ‘DB_CHARSET’, ‘utf8’ );

    and now it ended in
    /** Database charset to use in creating database tables. */
    define( ‘DB_CHARSET’, ‘latin1’ );

    after having moved the files with duplicator, the most recent version.

    We are losing a lot of time having to manually fix these errors, and this is costing us money in the long run.

    We are thinking about switching to another file transfer plugin, but we really enjoy the features duplicator has to offer. – How ever it is not financially responsible to continue using this, as it changes the charset.

    Hello @dynamike6700 ,

    Thanks for reaching out to us, and please accept our apologies for the inconvenience you encountered.

    Duplicator doesn’t change a website’s character set unless you choose to. To understand this, can you please let me know if you restored the backup on an empty website or overwrote an existing WordPress installation with the backup?
    If you overwrote a website with a wp-config.php file, Duplicator Pro might leave the charset in the wp-config.php file without changing the Charset and leaving it as latin1 which caused the issue.

    Duplicator also allows you to change the Charset during the backup creation. To do this, start the backup restoration, enable the advanced mode by clicking the Advanced button in the top right of the installer, in step 3, you can set the Charset and collation.

    I hope this helps, and

    I’m looking forward to hearing back from you.

    Thanks!

    Hello again, i watched as the wp-config charset went from utf8 to latin1 after using a duplicator move.

    I also tried the advanced installation, where i chose the charset again, and all of my special characters were still converted.
