• Dear supporters,

I’m taking over a wordpress site with Woocommerce from another webdesigner. The company has an Excel file with all their products (3000) and attributes. Woocommerce interprets these attributes as custom attributes and thus they don’t work with the Layered nav widget which only recognizes global attributes. Is there a way to convert all these custom attributes to global attributes? Or for the Layered nav to recognize the custom attributes?

    Kind regards,
    Jasper

    Bump?

Ormagon, I wish I had the answer, I to have a site that has all custom attributes. And I need to convert these to ‘real’ attributes to filter the products properly. Anybody have any experience doing this, can it be done with a script/plugin? Doing this manually would be an enormous task. Also, if using the CSV import suite, new attributes will always come in as custom attributes, so we do need a way to convert them/merge them. Any help would be great appreciated.

Ormagon, I have had a small about of success using two plugins. One to add the new attributes in Bulk. (Woocommerce Bulk Insert Attributes)
Then once the bulk entries have been created, then use this plugin (Woocommerce Bulk Attribute Manager) to assign the new attributes to existing categories.
Still thinking that a specific ‘convert custom attributes’ plugin would save and enormous amount of time.

Oh dear, scrap that. It removes all the custom attributes and replaces with just a single entry, do some testing on a play site before doing this.
