Hi there – we wanted to switch the order of appearance (put pool photo first). It was acting like it saved successfully, but never did (after clearing cache on litespeed server and history clear on browser). After trying several things unsuccessfully, I duplicated the slider and started over. I tried to change the slider name to something different but I couldn’t find a place to rename it (?) I made several attempts to get the homepage settings to display the newly ordered version, but it just wouldn’t recognize the new one until I deleted the old one. (I later found this was very unfortunate)

We have things in the right order now, and the proper version displaying on the home page, but none of the layers /animations are appearing.

We haven’t added any plugins in some time. I could try deactiving in search of a conflict, later tonight during less traffic. I’ll post the results but in the meantime, do you know what is causing this issue?

This is a website with same set of plugins – same kind of settings:
    https://bristolclub.com/

Yet these layers just don’t appear any longer. There should be a transparent box with text on each slide: https://greenatchevychase.com/

    Dev console shows no errors.
    Litespeed purge all doesn’t fix.
Turning off html compression doesn’t fix.

    Metaslider v Version 3.15.3
    Pro add-on pack Version 2.7.1

Here is the source of the first layer if it helps:

    <div class="layer" data-width="575" data-height="130" style="width: 575px; height: 130px; top: 65px; left: 260px; position: absolute; right: auto; bottom: auto;" data-top="65" data-left="260"><div class="animation_in animated fadeIn" data-animation="fadeIn" data-animation-delay="2" style="animation-delay: 2000ms; -moz-animation-delay: 2000ms; -webkit-animation-delay: 2000ms;"><div class="animation_out animated disabled" data-animation="disabled" data-animation-delay="0" style="animation-delay: 2000ms; -moz-animation-delay: 2000ms; -webkit-animation-delay: 2000ms;"><div class="ms_content_wrap" style="height: 100%; background: rgba(22, 144, 17, 0.7);"><div class="content" id="layer_content_975675137" data-padding="25" style="color: white; padding: 25px; position: relative;"><p style="text-align: center; font-size: 20px; text-shadow: 1px 1px 1px #000000;">The Green at Chevy Chase</p><p style="text-align: center; text-shadow: 2px 2px 2px #000000;"><font face="lucida sans unicode, lucida grande, sans-serif" style="font-size: 35px;"><span>RESORT-STYLE AMENITIES</span></font></p></div></div></div></div></div>

Fingers crossed for a possible solution!

  • Hi,

If the settings aren’t saving properly then it’s often a case of needing to increase a setting on the server. Specifically, if you can increase max_input_vars to a higher value like 4000.

You can verify this is the issue if you look under Advanced Settings and see that Print JS and Print CSS are unchecked. If you check them, save, then refresh, and they are again unchecked it confirms the setting needs to be updated.

If the above isn’t the case, let me know and I’ll suggest some more things to look for.

Thank you so much for your prompt reply.
JS and CSS need to be enabled, (or it doesn’t scale to full width.) So I unchecked them, and they remained unchecked now. So I suppose it’s not a server setting.

FYI, These are working and displaying fine —-> https://bristolclub.com/
….on the same server, with same plugins, same kind of content, etc. …
I have not, however, tried to make any changes to this other slider.

    Next step to eliminate?

Did a quota check – plenty of space LOL

    Posting progress for info purposes…

I went to the comparable site (bristol) and started a new slider. Created a new layer from scratch and saved it. (I noticed that the code was in place when I hit the “edit source” button). I hit preview, and the text layer did *not* appear.

I then backed out completely and went back in. Sure enough…The code had disappeared…nothing in source box. So it’s just not saving.

I hope this helps resolve it. Otherwise I’ll have to restore the “green” website from a backup to get text layers appearing again. I don’t mind the redo at all… if we could just get it to ‘stick’. Here’s the layer code from my new test on bristol , fyi:

    <div class="layer" data-width="805" data-height="110" style="width: 805px; height: 110px; top: 80px; left: 245px; position: absolute; right: auto; bottom: auto;" data-top="80" data-left="245"><div class="animation_in animated fadeIn" data-animation="fadeIn" data-animation-delay="2" style="animation-delay: 2000ms; -moz-animation-delay: 2000ms; -webkit-animation-delay: 2000ms;"><div class="animation_out animated disabled" data-animation="disabled" data-animation-delay="0" style="animation-delay: 2000ms; -moz-animation-delay: 2000ms; -webkit-animation-delay: 2000ms;"><div class="ms_content_wrap" style="height: 100%; background: rgba(41, 7, 29, 0.7);"><div class="content" id="layer_content_431224162" data-padding="25" style="color: white; padding: 25px; position: relative;"><p style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size:2.625em;"><span style="font-family:tahoma,geneva,sans-serif;">Downer's Grove is the Best Place to Live!</span></span></p></div></div></div></div></div>

    Hi,

Can you check for any errors in the browser console?

    https://updraftplus.com/faqs/how-do-i-open-my-browsers-developer-tools/

It’s best to open the developer tools, reload the page, then attempt to add layers. If there’s an error it will most likely show after you press the save button. Can you send a screenshot of the error if any?

    Thread Starter webworks

    (@webworks)

Yep – I had done that – there are no errors. 4 warnings as follows, 6 messages
No problems I can see – but maybe you can.

I could take a screen shot and make a link for it, but there’s nothing to see but this:

Here’s a screen shot – Apparently you can’t copy/paste the dev console content into a code textarea box.

    Hi,

Typically if something isn’t saving properly an error will show in the console. It could be that there is a conflict with another plugin that happens to be suppressing errors. Are you able to disable other plugins to confirm there isnt a conflict?

Also, “layers” is currently a pro feature. Can you contact us on our off-site support place so we can help debug that plugin specifically? WordPress requires we handle commercial plugin support off-site.
