First may I congratulate you on a superb set of blocks. Very user friendly and highly customisable. Kadence is my go to block set.

The Row Layout feature request … or workaround if I am missing something please. Would it be possible to add the ‘collapse to rows’ option on the desktop column layout selector. There are occasions when this would be extremely useful, if can be done.

Thank you for your time and patience in anticipation of your reply.

  • Hey,
    Thanks for your post!

Could you clarify a little more for me, are you wanting the desktop to be rows and mobile to be columns? Can you give me a use case example?

    Thanks

Thanks for the response Ben.I am specifically referring to desktop layout options with nested blocks. It would be nice to have the same options as are available in Tablet/Mobile layout options ie collapsed row.

So, for example, I may begin with a two column layout. Then in the right-hand column maybe insert a four column nested block and have it collapse like is possible on your mobile options.

Difficult to describe, I hope you can understand what is desired.

    Hey,
    Thanks for posting!

Perhaps I am missunderstanding. From your example wouldn’t it make more sense to add multiple single-column rows where you want rows? Or if they are always going to be rows why add the row structure at all since each column can host unlimited nested blocks you can add the 4 blocks you want to place into a column one after another.

If at all possible posting a link to where you see an example of this output would really help me understand or perhaps help me to explain a better way to do it.

Hi Ben, you have nearly got it thank you.

The reason for having rows on a desktop layout is purely space … think sidebar. Full explanation, bearing in mind I prefer to design mobile first. Starting with two column layout with a nested four column in the right column. On mobile all columns collapse to rows. On tablet parent columns collapsed but, nested four columns now display as two column grid. Finally on the desktop display, the nested columns back to rows. Of course, there are many other scenarios possible, if you had the same control over the desktop layout as you do with tablet and mobile layout in your block module.

This is very simple to do with html and flexbox css model but, I am just failing to understand how to apply the example to your block.

I am really looking forward to your follow up and thank you again for your patience.

I’ve put this on my list to add. I should get to it within a week.
