TEST website form layout Problem – using SightOrigin Page Builder, I place a HappyForms Widget into a row.

When it displays, the form layout has excess padding compared to the same form placed into a Classic Editor page.

SiteOrigin widget into section – https://www.djg4friends.com/acc/#section-1505
Siteorigin shortcode into page – https://www.djg4friends.com/acc/policies/

Secondly, if on the SiteOrigin built (‘Contact’ menu option) one completes the form and actually submits it….then immediately upon refresh after the sendmail and “THANK YOU! YOUR RESPONSE HAS BEEN SUCCESSFULLY SUBMITTED.” NOW the form is condensed, it has lost all the excess padding around fields and looks great…why?

This post submission format is what I need as the initial layout.

Any thoughts much appreciated. Thanks Dennis

  • Hey there, @appleisle ??

That’s odd. Poking around the page with form added through SiteOrigin widget, it looks like there’s a bunch of extra <br> (break lines) tags between fields.

Would you mind deactivating all plugins (except HappyForms and SiteOrigin) and see if it helps? We have a hunch it might be related to a third party plugin stepping in, or even your theme applying some extra filters on shortcodes.

Let us know how you go! ??

Thanks Guys for the quick response, much appreciated.

I did as requested – deactivated all other plugins….refreshed browser and sadly no change in form layout.

To assist your thoughts the following are the design settings.
In that SiteOrigin row I only have a Left Padding = 60, no other row settings.
    The HappyForms settings
Styling is: Outer padding = Narrow. Inner padding = Narrow
General settings: Width 80%, Padding = narrow, Direction = l to r, Display notices = below form.

Any help appreciated, but am thinking it may be Page Builder related as I have used your form elsewhere very successfully, however not within SiteOrigin Page builder.

    Thanks Dennis

    Update for Themefoundry:

After my prior note about total plugin de-activation, I have tried 3 competitors Form Builders in conjunction with SiteOrigin Page Builder, same WP Theme……NO ISSUES.

So definitively it would appear these strange <br> codes are being driven more than likely from your own coding. Either the form itself or the widget used to insert it into the page builder field. I also inserted the form via using a Visual Editor widget and your form shortcode, same issue.

With each of the 3 competitors form builders I used their widget straight into SiteOrgin, same row and place with form layout issues.

Hope this feedback helps? I’d love if you can fix it as I’m keen on using your Form Builder it certainly shines over much of the competition.

    Cheers Dennis

Thanks for sharing all the details, @appleisle!

As it turns out, we can’t replicate this using SiteOrigin builder and various popular themes on our end. It’s super strange as we don’t add any <br> tags when rendering form on front end. In general, the way you add a form to your website shouldn’t play any role. Both visual editor and a widget should always get you the same result.

To investigate this further, would you mind switching to a different theme for a very brief moment and see if it corrects the form appearance? That’s just to rule out any theme rules clashing with HappyForms logic.

Let us know the details! We’ll be happy to fix this up for you. ??

Guys, sorry to say I have deactivated Happy Forms.

I spent hours trying to fix it…ended up trying alternate and with all my current Theme settings, plugins and using SiteOrigin page builder, the same row, using a form widget – I now have a beautiful well formatted “Forminator” form.

Apologies, I’m not a coder, so have to leave at this. Based on me trying alternates and they all worked…one can assume it must be a Theme or SiteOrgin clash with your form code.

    Regards, Dennis

    Sorry to hear that, @appleisle!

If you decide to give HappyForms another shot, be sure to let us know and we’ll be happy to look into it again. We’re sure the issue is easy to fix. We just couldn’t replicate it on our end. That’s why we asked for more details from you — to get a solid grasp of it.

Anyways, sorry for the back and forth! We value your time and understand that you switched away for now to be able to move forward with the project.

    Have a great day! ??
