Layout *#? up in Internet explorer

I’ve once again been reminded why I switched to an apple computer…

I’m working on a website for a client, making a templatea nd although it looks fine in firefox, chrome and safari, it becomes a total mess in internet explorer. I’ve been trying many changesi n the css to make it come out right but i just can’t find the problem. Perhaps anyone out here is familiar with such an ie crash? And can tell me what to change to fix it?
