layout_type=”list” on past events

Hi!
I would like to show the past events in list format and not in box format as it is seen by default… in future events I have it configured in list format and it is weird to have two different views…, how can I do it?

If I put in the shortcode [past_events layout_type=”list”] it doesn’t work…
