Lazy loading images and embeds are not loading until you mouse-over the container div.

Both sites I’ve used this plugin on have the same problem, and I’m sure I’d have spotted this when I set it up a few weeks ago, so maybe a problem introduced by a recent update?

    Thanks.

  • Hello @sonic1243

    I trust you’re doing well!

I’ve visited your site and could not replicate the issue. All images are loaded after scrolling down on a page.

Please let us know which browser you’re singing from your end? Or is this issue happens on a certain page?

    Please advise,

    Kind regards,
    Nastia

    Hi thank you ..
Chrome on Windows, I tend to have my mouse away from the content; so off to the sides; and as I scroll down I get to a bunch of ‘alt’ tags as the images have not loaded. It requires prompting by moving the mouse; either over the container or over the scroll bar too, just some mouse movement to focus the view-port or whatever.
All the blog posts on that site have long pages with lots of images. And I do have another very similar site which is doing exactly the same thing.
I’m also certain this wasn’t like this a week or two back when I was testing Smush and working on these websites. It’s not a massive problem, but …
    Thanks,
    Chris

So as a test, if I go to one of the blog pages, move the mouse away completely, and just use the ‘down’ button on the keyboard to scroll down, it gets a few images into it and then I get the ‘alt’ tags and missing images, then getting to the bottom of the page it does load the footer embeds and pics as normal, its just the images within the main post content which still have not loaded. If I then move the mouse; even over the Chrome app interface; so not even the body of the html, then those images get prompted to load…

I’m seeing the same issue on our site’s single blog posts (for example https://supermetrics.com/blog/marketing-reporting-templates) and can also confirm I see this behaviour on @sonic1243’s single posts.

Using Chrome Version 83.0.4103.61 (Official Build) (64-bit) on Mac 10.15.3. Latest version of WordPress, customized theme based on Understrap.

The problem seems to be related to Chrome since I can’t reproduce it on Firefox or Safari.

Thanks in advance for your help!
    Heidi

With the latest Smush release, we’ve added a new option to utilize native lazy loading. Please try enabling this option in the Smush lazy load settings, it should fix all issues.

    Best regards,

This has indeed solved the issue on both sites. Thanks Anton!
