Hi. So I can’t get lazy load to work. As plan B could use LSCache, however it doesnt work because SmashBaloon loads images via CSS (inside a tag), yet LScache and many other plugins support only <img>. Is there any workaround?

I have enabled: Ajax theme loading fox, optimize images
Off: Load initial posts with Ajax (this is taking too long to load and shifts the page), JS Image Loading

    Hi @mcdeth,

Thank you for contacting us! For best compatibility with lazy loading plugins, please Deactivate: AJAX theme loading fix, Load Initial posts with AJAX, and JavaScript Image Loading. Then Activate: Optimize Images.

After this, you may also need to clear the cache of your image optimization plugin that implements lazy loading.

If this does not resolve the issue, we’ll need to look at more specifics about your configuration, so if you can send us a support request here, we’ll be happy to investigate further.

    Best regards,
    Louis

Thanks, but as I have mentioned. It’s loaded via css, hence plugin won’t make it work and cloudflare has problems. It’s really extremely difficult to imagine any “best” plugin (whatever best stands for) without lazy load. the only way to make lazy load work is to use load on client side but then it’s loading slow and shifting layout. So overall – few points from any metrics. But well, at least it’s not using adobe flash (haha)

    Hi?@mcdeth,

Thank you for the update, we appreciate your feedback. We will look into more ways to improve lazy loading and image optimization in the plugin. There is an inner img element in the post HTML that is used in conjunction with the CSS background image, so when the JavaScript Image Loading setting is enabled, this can cause the lazy loading plugin to instead lazy load the initial placeholder image. When you turn off the JavaScript Image Loading, this corrects most issues we’ve seen with lazy loading compatibility, but we will continue to investigate this and make improvements.

If you would like any further assistance, please let us know and thank you again for the feedback.

    Best regards,
    Louis
