i have the smush plugin installed and i have enabled lazy load but google pagespeed insights still has the “Defer offscreen images” as something i can do to speed up my website.

Any idea why it isn’t working?

    Hi @johnzoro,

Hope you are doing good today. ??

Could you please check and see whether you have “Native lazy load” feature enabled in the plugin side under Smush > Dashboard > Lazyload?

If yes, unfortunately, Google Page Speed at the moment doesn’t recognize “Native Lazyloading” feature and hence it still lists the images under “Defer Offscreen Images”.

As a workaround, you can try disabling the “Native Lazyload” feature? And then check whether the default Lazyload setting works or not? Please do make sure to clear the cache before checking again.

If you still have issues even after disabling “Native Lazyload”, or if “Native Lazyload” was disabled from start then please do share a link to the website where we could check this further.

    Looking forward to your response.

    Kind Regards,
    Nithin

Hi! I’m having the same issue, but only on mobile for some reason. I’m super new to WordPress so don’t know if I’m doing something wrong, but my mobile score on google pagespeed insights and on hummingbird is terrible (like low 40s) and a big thing it’s telling me to do is lazy load. I don’t have “enable native lazy loading” checked and it works perfectly on desktop (my score there is usually low 90s). Would be so grateful for any insights! Thank you!

    Hello @kespence

    I hope you’re well today!

Would you start a separate topic of your own, please?

I realize that it’s already quite a long time since you posted it and I apologize for the delay on our end but, as per this forum rules, please open your own ticket – while the issue seems similar we still need to check the site separately and since you don’t have native lazy loading enabled it’s surely caused by different reasons.

It will also help us assist you faster.

    Thanks in advance!
    Adam
