    Hello,

I am having problems with the WooCommerce image gallery/slider dragging down my LCP score on product pages.

I use Asset CleanUp to defer/delay unnecessary scripts, have tried image optimization, webp, server cache, CDN and nothing seems to fix it. Even when disabling all other plugins and switching to a default theme with the latest version of WooCommerce the problem persists.

Is there a specific script I should be preloading or setting I am missing?

    Thank you!

Can you disable all plugins leaving only WooCommerce then switch to the Storefront theme to see if the issue persists?

I disabled all plugins except WooCommerce and switched to the Storefront theme and the LCP is still around 4.5 seconds at best. I was not able to use WebP images as that would apparently require reconfiguration of nginx server mod headers.

Google PageSpeed also shows a warning to “Properly size images”. It looks like the full size images are still being grabbed for display even though I regenerated thumbnails for the new theme.

Hi @oaoyadeyi, thank you for the article. Unfortunately I have already tried most of these performance improvement methods without success. I was hoping you could point me toward which scripts specifically to target for preloading the gallery/slider or if there were any settings I might be missing in WooCommerce that would help with loading that section faster.

It seems like there may be a bug in WooCommerce itself (or incorrect setting on my end?) since it is not grabbing the correct image sizes as well. This problem exists on the live site but was also present when WooCommerce was the only plugin running with the Storefront theme after regenerating thumbnails.

    Hi @happyday25

Could you please share a copy of your site’s System Status so that we can check if anything is particularly unusual about your configuration?

You can find it via WooCommerce > Status. Select “Get system report” and then “Copy for support”. Once you’ve done that, paste it here in your response.

Hi @margaretwporg, is there a way I can send the system status report in a private message? There is database and version information I would rather not share publicly.

    Hi @happyday25,

This is a public forum and everyone can contribute to help you out so there is no other method to get the information privately. If you’re concerned about privacy, feel free to redact your site’s URL or any other personal information in the system status report.

    Thanks.

I understand, hopefully this is enough information to get a better picture (see below). I was not sure how much of the server and database information would be safe to share for security reasons so removed those sections. This is with other plugins disabled and active storefront theme.

    Hi @happyday25,

Thanks for sharing your system status.

I’ve performed a test on GTmetrix on your product page https://curiousplant.com/product/butterworts/pinguicula-agnata-x-gypsicola/ and the result determined a GTmetrix Grade A with a 98% performance on Desktop which is a quite good result.

It doesn’t seem at all there is a problem with WooCommerce and I couldn’t see any issues with your product page and its performance score either. You can check the score and performance here: https://gtmetrix.com/reports/curiousplant.com/KJ1kLvtx/.

We’re not really experts on this topic and it falls outside the scope of support we’re able to provide on this forum.

If you need more inputs you might want to get in touch with other WooCommerce users on the WooCommerce Slack Community or the WooCommerce group on Facebook. These are channels where many developers hang out and they can give you good recommendations on increasing your score.

Let us know if you have any other questions.

Yes desktop reports are ok, it is mobile scores that aren’t doing well.

Thank you for the assistance, I will try asking in one of the communities.

Perfect! That sounds like a plan.

We’ve not seen any activity on this thread for a while, so I’m marking this thread as resolved. If you have further questions, please feel free to open a new topic.
