Hi! In this week i tried to get better result in Page Speed Insights in webstories, and i hard optimize the images from this webstory, but i have LCP issues. The image its from CDN, but i don’t know why the images get worst score, because the background image from first page its have only 26 kb size.

I create today an new topic in AMP forums, and only after i discovered some tickets from Github about this (like this thread) and i discovered this topic about the remove preloading (from tradicional articles, i suppose).

Exists any configuration about this? My images its a CDN in Amazon S3 and Cloudfront.

    Thanks in Advanced!

Another info: i see the preload property in code, but why in LCP reports shows the image for “large LCP” ? I can go ignore, or the Core Web Vitals will go correct with this ?

Because in my Search Console my webstories have LCP issues.

Hi! Any updates? The topic from AMP forums was closed (and support suggest to check here in webstories forum)

Did we see improvements in future, or the plugin will entrace in maintenance state, with only few updates from WordPress changing versions (for example) ?

The Web Stories WordPress plugin leverages the existing open source Web Stories format that is developed as part of AMP. And the AMP team is always looking into ways to improve performance of Web Stories, so if you have any concrete measures, it’s best to report them directly at?https://github.com/ampproject/amphtml/.

LCP can be affected by multiple factors and this metric also takes into account your server response time. A caching plugin can help reduce server response time.

I recommend reaching out to the product experts in the?Search Console community?as they go a bit beyond our support offering for the Web Stories WordPress plugin.

I posted one example in AMP Github, but i don’t see any hope about improvements. Each day the editors don’t use AMP anymore because the wordpress core and some cache plugins gets better than the format, and the Google only focuses on IA and search pages.

    But i can try:

As mentioned before, handling LCP inquiries falls outside the scope of our plugin support. Your best bet would be to reach out to Google’s PageSpeed Insights and Core Web Vitals report. They’re likely to provide helpful recommendations for improving your site’s performance, including Web Stories.

But my concern is the high points of LCP for stories created on the web.

I tried to optimize images and it didn’t work, and the high LCP is still very high. I get to AMP Github and I don’t have a good answer for people =(

So LCP on web stories will have LCP of 4-5 points (or more) indefinitely? Is it an AMP issue? If I don’t have the official AMP plugin installed, what do I do? I understand that core web vitals have no influence on search rankings, but I don’t know about the future and whether Google might change this in the interest of the search engine.

@rodrigoflausino, I advise contacting the product experts in the Search Console community as they provide more comprehensive support than what we offer for the Web Stories WordPress plugin.
