    Ken,

I looked at your site to see if I’m getting the same thing you are/were and it looks like you figured out a solution. If accurate, can you share what you did as I am getting a similar issue when the Hide Title plug-in logic finds the the page title in a Twitter social link button.

    Thank you.

    Mike

I should have read the reviews before installing this. Luckily I only messed up one page which was easily recoverable.

This plugin works on the front end by wrapping the titles you want hidden in span tags that it then hides with CSS (I presume.) In my case, it appears to clash with some plug-in and adds redundant tags which show up in WP’s title field in the database.

I’d prefer to find a plug-in that withholds the output of the title inside the WP engine somehow.

In case this is useful to other people – I began looking for another plug-in, and then realized what I’m trying to accomplish does not require an additional plug-in at all. In fact, I was vastly overcomplicating things.

My purpose was to use a short title for the page in my menu, for example: “About,” while on the about page, I wanted to hide “About” and replace it in the body with my full “About this collector’s group” <– more detail. Not best practice I know, but I wanted to do it anyway.

Long story short: in your dashboard, you can go to Appearance –> Menus and then select an abbreviated page title that will show in your menu. Problem solved with built-in WP functionality.

Maybe someone else will find this helpful…

The popup “Hide Title” removed the title on the page but “added” the page title in small script with quotes and />. I am a newbe and I don’t know how to remove that. Perhaps you can help. check out the page https://www.stardancertantra.com/wp/aboutmeee/
    Thanks.

I am having this same problem can you tell me what you did to fix it?

I removed the title finally by removing the lines of code in the template file. The file the code is in depends on the theme you are using and your change will possibly be removed if you update your theme.
I found one page “template” in my theme actually had the option to remove the header so I started using it for everything.
