If I go thru the normal operation of purchasing a product, and get to the checkout screen, and if I leave this at any time for any reason, it looses my identity and I need to log in again. There may be any number of reasons why one would want to stop checking out and either go back to the cart or back to the store to add something else. Whatever I do, if I leave the checkout process, I will need to log back in to admin or as a user.
    Website is https://www.goodolddayscountryshop.com/WPstore/
Not sure when I started seeing this crop up but it was a few versions ago.
I dont believe it is intended to work this way.
    Thank-you
    John

It’s due to logging in over SSL.

I suggesting running the entire site over SSL and changing the WP urls to https. Keeps everything secure, has little performance impact, and google likes secure sites.

Well. that makes sense. Now implementing this…..
Is there somewhere within WP where I set the site to run under SSL? After purchasing my certificate, I set the appropriate settings on checkout to use this. However, unsure about getting the whole site to run on the certificate. Is this something my host provider must do?
Also, where do I change the WP urls to hpps?
    Thanks for the help Mike.

    Hi trader4300,

Set them in your dashboard > settings > general (under WordPress Address URL and Site Address URL). Also check this helpful resource: https://designmodo.com/wordpress-https/

Check with the host or whoever setup the SSL first. You need to ensure ALL pages are accessible over HTTPS and not just checkout.

Once confirmed, just a case of going to Settings > General and changing the site and home url to https. This will then be default for the entire site.

That is simple enough. I looked at a lot of the pages and what I saw all began with https but I will check with provider and make those changes. Thanks so much

After making the changes as requested above and by my host provider, the site lost all it’s customizations that had been set, making the issue even worse.
I have had to RESTORE the site to 2 days ago before any attempts to fix the SSL issue reported here.
I believe I will further work on this problem if it still exists once I move this site to the root directory to replace my current site. It may be easier once the site moved. For now, we can close this issue out, even though it is not resolved. I will open a new ticket down the road.
    Thank-you everybody for your assistance.
