• Hi,

I remember reading something awhile ago that left me with the impression that any theme made for WordPress had to be open source… which would mean you can’t restrict the ways a user can modify it, right?

I ask because this theme https://wordpressthemesbase.com/view/263.html integrates an advertisement at the bottom of the home page that the README says users are not licensed to remove. Can that be right?

Any theme in the Theme Directory has to open source (or more accurately, licensed under GPL2).

    Can that be right?

There’s nothing that anyone can do here to stop them.
